FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are your rates?
$150 per 50-minute session.
We accept cash, check, Venmo, and all major credit cards and HSA cards.
Do we accept insurance?
We currently do not accept insurance, however most PPO plans will reimburse a portion of out-of-network therapy costs if you submit a receipt for services received. We would be more than happy to provide such a receipt if needed, and to help you with any additional paperwork.
What is the difference between therapy and counseling?
The words can be used interchangeably. Different people relate to one word more positively than the other. Counseling implies advice or guidance and therapy implies change and healing. Both go hand in hand in our practice.
How do I know it is time to see a therapist?
Is there a persistent problem or condition that has been bothering you for a while? Are you thinking something in you or your life needs to change? Does the issue feel too big to tackle by yourself? Are you tired of feeling the way you have been feeling? Are you ready to do something about it?
Why do I need a therapist? Why can’t I just talk to a friend or a family member?
Friend or family is not professionally trained to help you grow, heal and change, despite best intentions. It is hard for them to remain unbiased. A trained therapist is interested in helping you find your own answers by helping you connect with what is true and right for you.
How long can I expect therapy to last?
Therapy depends on many factors unique to the individual and to the scope of issues to be addressed. Generally, the client senses that therapy has been successfully completed when major challenges have been overcome and they have the confidence and plan to tackle new challenges on their own. Successful psychotherapy also depends on maintaining the momentum of the work. Committing to attend regular sessions is important. Most clients find weekly sessions the most productive. Others feel that bi-weekly, or twice-a-week sessions are the right pace for them.
